The Mayor Frank Catalina

Lifelong Peekskill resident Frank Catalina wasn't happy with the direction his hometown was heading, so he decided to do something about it.

In 2013, Catalina defeated incumbent Mary Foster in the mayoral election. Since being sworn in, Catalina has taken aim at several of the issues he felt were plaguing the city.

"In the six years prior to me taking office, there were deficits every single year," Catalina told Daily Voice. "We doubled down on spending. We told people they have to cut down. We told departments they had to cut back 10-15 percent."

Budgetary fixes haven't been Catalina's only changes, either. His goal is to not just help Peekskill improve financially, but also to see the city grow physically.

"I looked around the city and said 'In six years, one commercial building was built, and that was a Walgreens drug store,'" Catalina said. "You're not going to grow out of it with one building in six years. Right now we have nine major projects being considered."

Catalina was recently endorsed by the City Republican Committee for re-election. While the mayor feels his hometown is moving in the right direction, he knows there is plenty of work yet to be done.

"Today, the way I feel right now, I'd do this job forever," Catalina said. "As long as the people want me."

Brendon plays an active role in several community organizations, including the Peekskill American Legion and the Westchester Marine Corps League, and is a member of the Air National Guard at Stewart Air Force Base.  He currently resides in Peekskill with his wife Lindsey Fitzgerald.

Tina Fischer

During my time with the City of Peekskill, I was in charge of general ledger, all the bank transfers, bank reconciliations, capital projects, debt service, assisted with payroll, taxes, worked out installmet agreements, assisted residents and business owners with tax and water issues.  The comptroller had moved up to Interim City Manager and ultimately left The City.  The City of Peekskill did not hire a new Comptroller for quite some time.  Jessie Boyd, Deputy Comptroller, did a great job doing all functions needed for the office to run smoothly.  Jessie and I worked together very well.  Everyone in the finance office worked very well together and individually to get the job done.

"I am looking forward to injecting my knowledge of the city into the City Council.  I believe our team can make some wonderful changes to lift up our current and future residents, business owners, employees, infrastructure and overall vision."

"I have always been a part of my City.  I am willing to put myself out there to do what I feel is right and just for the whole not just the few."

Herbert Reyes

Reyes, a member of the Independence Party, has lived in Peekskill since 2005. He has a background in finance, operational overview and project management and currently is operations manager for a New York City transportation company.

“I am anxious to be part of a team that is more interested in working together than what political party I am registered with. I believe that Peekskill’s future is bright and Mayor Catalina’s vision is right on the mark as I support the positive steps that he has taken since he took office,” said Reyes, whose wife is assistant principal at Peekskill High School. “This is a ticket that wants to move forward to progress.”
